Gotham‘s second season is going to be all about the villains, with longer arcs and, apparently, a lot of servings of ham. But really, that’s par for the course with this series. Let’s dive into the clip, shall we?
Following up on the first clip, it appears that season big bads Theo and Tabitha round up Arkham’s most wanted and have a deal for them: Make Gotham somehow crappier, more crime riddled and more violent. Needless to say, they’re all in, even if newly snarky Barbara is somewhat confused about her possible supervillain potential. So are we, Babs. So are we.
Still, it’s a welcome change, I think, not least because it’ll give the show a little more stability and continuity. Gotham had a rough first season, mostly because it was a victim of its own success; as the show had to suddenly tack on six episodes and figure out how to juggle an enormous cast, some of whom are one-season-and-done by all accounts, and also figure out what to do with Robin Lord Taylor as the show’s breakout star. As a result, when it was good, it was great, and when it was bad… well, at least it wasn’t boring. But hopefully this season has settled down and it will just be consistently great. Or at least nuts. We’ll take nuts. Come on, Gotham, let’s get nuts.
