John Oliver took on the aftermath of the tragic shootings in South Carolina last week on Last Week Tonight. Because the reality of our country is too depressing, he focused on one symbol that has since been a topic of great controversy… the confederate flag. Which, as we know, was disgustingly still flying at full-staff in the wake of the tragedy.

But why is it even flying at all? As Oliver said: “The confederate flag is one of those symbols that should really only be seen on t-shirts, belt buckles and bumper stickers to help the rest of us identify the worst people in the world.” Apparently, a 2/3 vote is needed in each chamber of the state assembly to do anything about the flag, so Oliver proposes a much more creative solution to getting rid of it.

And for anything else you may have missed on the web today…
