For the past several weeks, Sons of Anarchy showrunner and generally outspoken person Kurt Sutter has turned his Instagram page into a collection of fun and almost-artistic photos from his trip to Wales. However, as much as we’d expect the guy to take a little break after sending Jax Teller off on his last ride, Sutter was actually scouting for his next FX series, The Bastard Executioner, which is already set to begin filming next month, according to the International Business Times. Sutter confirmed the news himself by sharing that story on Facebook and asking fans: “Are you ready?”
Joining Sutter for the series will, of course, be his wife and SOA star Katey Sagal, as well as Sons director and executive producer Paris Barclay. As for the story…
The Bastard Executioner is a period drama that tells the story of a warrior knight in King Edward II’s charge who is broken by the ravages of war and vows to lay down his sword. But when that violence finds him again, he is forced to pick up the bloodiest sword of all.
No other details are known at this time, but Sutter previously Tweeted that FX execs loved his script. Hopefully, we’ll soon find out whether or not Sagal is the only SOA cast member taking this trip back in time.
