Call home and tell your family to break out the good slime. Nickelodeon is leaning hard into its retro fare when the cable network pops up at next month’s Comic-Con International: San Diego 2016.
Nickelodeon’s presence at Comic-Con (the annual civil war between nerds and vendors) will be a decidedly ’90s affair. Billed as an “immersive retro experience,” the era of Aah! Real Monsters will be proudly represented and may lead to some uncomfortable eye contact. Nick fans will have access to games, panels, talent signings and interactive design elements centered around offerings like Hey Arnold!, Double Dare and Rocko’s Modern Life. (Feel free to bring this issue up if you bump into any Arnold folks.)
“Those who dare to pass through the sacred gates of Comic-Con will enter a world of nostalgic treasures, artifacts and trivia from Nickelodeon’s beloved ’90s archives,” said King Olmec, Keeper of Nickelodeon’s booth. “The choice to enter is yours and yours alone, loyal fans.”
There’s a pretty ample collection of options waiting at the convention. There’s a Legends of the Hidden Temple Virtual Reality 360-Degree Experience attraction (as tipped off by that quote), costumed characters. the opportunity to take your photo with the Double Dare nose and the even more exciting opportunity of throwing a fit when your children tell you there isn’t enough to a Hey Arnold! stoop pic.
