Rob Dyrdek is working through losing his best friend, Christopher “Big Black” Boykin, who passed away at the age of 45 on May 9th. Not only were they great friends and business partners, but the world saw the ups and downs of their friendship through various shows such as Rob & Big, Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory, and Ridiculousness. That’s over nine seasons of two buddies having fun and almost a dozen years of bringing joy to the world through various projects. In that time, there’s no doubt you become tight with the person across from you day in and day out. Dyrdek lost a brother.
From MTV to his family and friends — many are struggling to deal with losing the big goofball.
“MTV is deeply saddened to learn the news of Christopher ‘Big Black’ Boykin’s passing. He was a long time and beloved member of the MTV family and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this time.” (h/t Variety)
After a few hours of silence after news of Boykin’s death broke, Dyrdek visited Twitter to post a series of pictures with him and his friend as he tries to say goodbye.
