Jimmy Fallon’s Stylish Jared Kushner Sends Steve Bannon ‘Back To Hell’ On ‘SNL’

SNL kicked off its “live coast-to-coast” era with an extra special visit with Donald Trump. Not only did Trump have on his best Russia pin, but he also got to choose which one of his trusted advisers earned the right to sit behind the big desk and become president. In one corner, it’s the “Grim Reaper” Steve Bannon. In the other, we have Jimmy Fallon as a very stylish, suave, and quiet Jared Kushner. While it seems like Trump would love to keep both, he’s forced to only keep one around.

The result is a showdown where Kushner doesn’t even have to say a word and SNL‘s Bannon is literally sent back to Hell. There’s a larger Grim Reaper that shows up and everything, sorta like that one scene in Ghost where the shadow demons carry the bad guy away but with a lower budget.

Baldwin as Trump has now been on nearly ever cold open this season, even when it seems like the joke has fallen flat. Though the pin and the return to the little desk that the real Trump reportedly hated have me thinking the appearances are less about comedy and more about goading the leader of the nation into a fit on Twitter. Why not, though? It’s not every day you have a president that hates being made fun of and can respond immediately to the entire nation. He’s a multitasker.
