On Sunday night, thousands of native South Carolinians and visitors marched together across the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge to form a “unity chain.” The act was meant to be a peaceful demonstration of the state’s stance against the murder of nine people at the Mother Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston.
Among those in the crowd was former Colbert Report and future Late Show host Stephen Colbert, himself a native of South Carolina. Many among the crowd noticed Colbert in attendance and made sure to document the celebrity’s presence.
Colbert himself posted a short video to Twitter from atop the bridge:
