Facebook is full of adorable animals with way more friends and fans than you’ll ever have. There’s Boo and Marnie and Grumpy Cat and Menswear Dog, and now let me introduce you to Doug The Pug… unless you’re one of the over five million people who already follow him, in which case congratulations on having your finger on the pulse of “social petworking.”
Pugs are cute and Stranger Things is great, so of course the internet went ahead and mashed the two completely unrelated awesome things together. The result is a surprisingly enthralling video entitled Stranger Pugs, featuring Doug The Pug dressed up as all the main characters from the hit Netflix show. Our personal favorite is Doug as Barb, just more proof that Barb is finally starting to get her due after the show tossed her aside so nonchalantly.
It says something about the popularity and impact of Stranger Things that the show is already inspiring not just cosplay but pet cosplay amongst its viewers. The first season only came out in July, but fans are already watching it over and over and piecing together theories on Eleven’s connection to the Demogorgon and speculating on what season two will bring. The kids are popping up on all the big late night talk shows, and EDM superstar Deadmau5 recently went ahead and threw together an unauthorized remix of the opening theme. Stranger Things is quickly becoming a cultural phenomena, and hopefully that means Stranger Pugs is but the first of several tiny dog related spins people put on the show.
