Good morning. As you may have noticed, there have been some changes to the Warming Glow/UPROXX TV homepage. You are going to hate them for like a week, then you will get used to them, then you won’t be able to understand how/why we ever went so long without the page looking like this. At some unspecified point in the future we’ll probably change it again and the whole process will start all over. That’s how these things work. It’s like the circle of life, but instead of beginning with an eccentric mandrill dangling a baby lion over a cliff, it begins with me writing some words under a picture of a dog sleeping on a laptop. Same difference.
The major changes are as follows:
- Instead of seeing the newest post at the top of the page, you will see a post labeled Top Buzz, like you do on the main UPROXX homepage. This will help us keep the information we think you will find most interesting — recaps of popular shows, things that are burning up the Internet, etc. — in a prominent position for a longer period of time, instead of having it bumped six inches down the page after 20 minutes because I freaked out about snakes or something.
- Other popular posts will be Highlighted in a similar format as you scroll down the page.
- Posts will only get a thumbnail image and short blurb on the homepage now instead of a big banner image and full paragraph or two of text. This will enable us to get way more posts on the first page, which means we can update more frequently without burying posts on previous pages. It also means you don’t have to worry as much about having shows spoiled for you because of text on the homepage, and we don’t have to scream “THEN MAYBE DON’T GO TO A TV WEBSITE IF YOU’RE WORRIED ABOUT HAVING A TV SHOW SPOILED” back at you. This is a good thing for everyone.
That about sums it up. We wish you the best of luck in this scary new world. Here is the GIF of Pete Campbell falling down the stairs.
