Amber Rose and Kim Kardashian have become unlikely allies in the wake of the latter’s renewed efforts to break the internet and the many forms of shade and trolling that followed. Rose has always been proud of her sultry image and never ashamed of her stripper years, and Kardashian enjoys the same devil-may-care attitude (though she does care about the attention).
Like everyone else in the world (except for us civilians), Rose is enjoying herself at SXSW to promote her new venture, as she’s lent her likeness to the Zoobe messaging app. She hits on her distaste for Donald Trump and her adoration for Hillary Clinton. And she details plans for further #SlutWalks on an annual basis. Naturally, it’s Amber’s talk of sisterhood with Kim that makes the most waves, particularly because Beyonce’s name comes up:
“It’s bullsh*t, and this is the thing: They come at me and Kim so hard because I was a stripper and she had a sex tape. So if we could sing, it would be OK if we were on stage half-naked. We all love Beyonce, but she’s on stage half-naked and twerking all the time, yet people say, oh, she has talent so she’s able to do that. We don’t have the talent that Beyonce has, so we get criticized as former sex workers, but at the end of the day we’re just women — we’re all women — and we should all embrace each other. No one is greater. We’re all the same.”
Rose isn’t finished yet. She continues her train of thought about her likeness with Kardashian and how they’re both businesswomen, much like Beyonce. Plus, all three of them take their jobs seriously. Say what you want about the Kardashians, they’re pretty damn savvy from a business perspective. If everyone could make a living from selfies and a reality show, they’d definitely do so unless privacy is an issue.
With all of that said, Rose doesn’t shade Beyonce at all, but she doesn’t understand why Channing Tatum is considered a respectable actor when he’s a former stripper much like Rose. She points out how everyone mentions her with “stripper” as a prefix, but Tatum easily slid into respectability with a few semi-serious movie roles. I doubt Rose even minds Tatum as a person, for she’s simply weary of the double gender standards. That’s why she never, ever lets Kanye West get away with shaming her, and she usually owns his attempts to do so. Of course, Rose admits that’s why she and Kardashian will never be best friends, but they’ve still buried their beef.
