Pelicans Superstar Anthony Davis Is So Good That He Can Even Dunk The Sun

Anthony Davis is already a freak of nature, but now the folks at Red Bull have captured him doing something that seemed impossible even to The Brow himself: dunking the sun.

Okay, so the New Orleans Pelicans superstar isn’t really slamming down the star at the center of our solar system, but it sure does look like it thanks to a clever bit of camera work from photographer Dustin Snipes.

The shoot is certainly one of the most innovative and unique forms of sports photography in quite some time, and Davis says the chemistry between he and Snipes was similar to the kind he shares with his teammates on the hardwood.

“I never heard of anyone thinking about dunking the sun,” said Davis.  “With the photographer, it’s kind of like he’s the point guard and I’m the forward. Like a screen and roll, we’ve got to be together and have good communication.”

“Dunking the sun was tough and we had to be on cue every time,” added Davis.  “As soon as I thought we got the shot, the photographer would say it’s not good enough.  I’m like…oh man, ok.”

Snipes also captured the 22-year-old jump-shooting the sun, grabbing it with his 7-4 wingspan, and swatting the ball of exploding fire right out of the sky with one of his signature rejections. You can see all of those awesome photos and more from the photoshoot over at Redbull.com
