Andrew Wiggins Forced Overtime Against Charlotte With An Ice Cold Three-Pointer

The Minnesota Timberwolves have not been terribly successful in close games this season, but on Saturday evening, Andrew Wiggins did not let his team go quietly into the night. With less than a minute to play in regulation, the Wolves trailed the Charlotte Hornets by seven points, but in short order – and with some help from his teammates – Wiggins calmly cruised from end to end, utilizing a beautiful cross-over and pull-up jumper to get the best of Nic Batum for a game-tying three-pointer.

Prior to Saturday’s game in Charlotte, Wiggins was sporting a sparkling 40.3 percent clip from beyond the three-point arc, and that has been a significant reason for his growth as an overall player at the tender age of 21. It is certainly fair to point out that Minnesota’s future is more directly tied to the development of Karl-Anthony Towns, simply because he is arguably the best and most promising young player in the entire NBA.

With that said, Wiggins’ provides the type of perimeter option that any great team needs with the way the league is going in 2016-17, and this was a confident, poised play that propelled the team to an extra period against a quality opponent.

The Wolves would go on to beat the Hornets by a final score of 125-120, and with the way Minnesota has lost in agonizing fashion at times this season, the shot by Wiggins could prove to be an even more important one in the grand scheme of things.
