If early returns of Derrick Rose’s first action since December 28 are any indication, the struggling Chicago Bulls star might start playing something like his old self.
Just how many players in the league are capable of a pick-and-roll split and soaring finish like this one? Very few, and Rose wasn’t among them during the season’s first two months. Fewer still could pull off the wild reverse layup the 2011 MVP completed just a few minutes later.

Might some time off to rest his achy knees be the source of this obvious explosion? Here’s hoping so. The league is a better place when Rose resembles his MVP-self – even just for a few fleeting possessions per game.
