Metta World Peace Allegedly ‘Speaks Daily’ To The ‘Malice At The Palace’ Cup Thrower

Stephen Jackson has become a regular on The Jump with Rachel Nichols, and the world is a better place for it. He has incredible stories, like the one he loves to tell about how, in the aftermath of the Malice at the Palace, then-Ron Artest turned to him in the locker room and asked him sincerely whether he thought they’d be in trouble for their part in the melee. It’s become the quintessential example of Artest’s head-scratching obliviousness to how certain things work.

On Tuesday’s episode, which featured Rasheed Wallace, also present for the infamous brawl that night, Jackson proceeded to blow everyone’s minds once again. He and Sheed have made nice over the years, but the truly stunning revelation had to do with two other high-profile individuals at the center of that fight who have supposedly become close friends over the years: Metta World Peace and John Green, aka the cup thrower who helped incite the whole ordeal by lobbing his beverage container at Ron as he was lying on the scorers table.

Jackson even went so far as to claim that they “speak daily,” which seems like an exaggeration, but who knows at this point. Nothing World Peace does should come as that much of surprise. He’s one of the most inscrutable athletes we’ve ever seen, and if he’s matured to the point where he can have that sort of relationship with the guy partially responsible for one of the darkest moments in his life and career, then good for him.
