The Next ‘Legend Of Zelda’ Unveils Voice Acting And A Full Title In A Stirring New Trailer

Nintendo is largely sitting this E3 out, but they are bringing one very big game to the show — namely the next Legend of Zelda. Nintendo has been teasing the next Zelda, which is coming to both the Wii U and NX, for a long time, but today they finally removed the wrapping and unveiled the game’s subtitle with its first full trailer.

What will strike most people about the new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is that is seems like Nintendo is finally relenting on an important front — voice acting. While Link doesn’t talk, we hear a female voice (presumably Zelda) speak several times throughout the trailer. This lines up with rumors that Link himself won’t talk in the game, but other characters will.

As for the footage itself, the game opts for a sun-dappled, subtly cell-shaded look that’s reminiscent of Shadow of the Colossus. It certainly isn’t the best-looking game we’ve seen at E3, but it’s stylish, and one of the better-looking games Nintendo has made to date. This will definitely be the biggest Zelda we’ve seen, as the scale of its world seems more in line with something like Skyrim than a traditional Zelda game. From the look of things, hunting and probably some sort of crafting/cooking system will be a big part of the game, but more traditional Zelda gameplay is also hinted at. After all, Link wields a bow, an ax, and the Water Rod while battling some moblins and other baddies.

What did you think the first big trailer for Breath of the Wild? Is the right direction for Zelda to go in? Is there anything else you would have liked to see?

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is expected to launch alongside the Nintendo NX next March.
