The Latest ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Trailer Sent Disney’s Stock Through The Roof

Star Wars: The Force Awakens doesn’t come out for another eight months, but the movie is already making Disney huge amounts of cash. Following the release of the second The Force Awakens teaser trailer, the company’s stock value has jumped an impressive $2.5 billion. I guess even Wall Street got a little choked up seeing Harrison Ford as Han Solo again.

But just how big will Star Wars: The Force Awakens be? Very big, according to box office and financial analysts. Predictions are the move could pull in as much as $225 million in its opening weekend. The flick’s worldwide gross could be as high as $1.8 billion, which would make it the No. 3 movie of all-time, behind Titanic and Avatar. Honestly, I’m kind of hoping it bumps Avatar off because, ugh, that movie.

So, why will the new J.J. Abrams take on Star Wars be such a rousing success? Mark Hamill summed it up pretty succinctly…

“This film is the first Star Wars film that is actually in the hands of someone who grew out of fandom. He feels the way you feel.”

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens the money faucets December 18.
