The UPROXX GammaStream Goes Anime With ‘Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds’

We’re in the doldrums of the gaming year; not much is hitting shelves between now and early September. Fortunately, that gives us time to look at the really unusual stuff that might be hiding, like a game where you play heavily armed Japanese schoolgirls beating the hell out of everything in their path.

Phantom Breaker: Battlegrounds is one of those games that arrives on Steam and promptly makes the jump to consoles. The plot is, uh, you’re fighting an evil wizard named Phantom. Apparently the goal is to break him? Is he fragile? Who knows?

Anyway, the mechanics are 2-D beat-’em-up, but the game itself has some deep RPG mechanics that make trashing various magical chumps a bit more of a stylish experience. That said, we’re not sure what the deal with the chibi schoolgirl thing is; maybe big heads let them fight more effectively?

As always, we’re streaming on Twitch, and you can check out the stream below. We’ll be streaming from 2:40 p.m. EST to 4:40 p.m. EST. Join us, won’t you?
