Consoles, PCs, handhelds, Facebook, smartphones — the world of gaming is becoming increasingly confusing and fragmented, but don’t worry, we’re here to simplify things for you. Each week I’ll rattle off five games I think you might want to check out this week. Keep in mind, these articles aren’t meant to be comprehensive lists of everything coming out that week so much as a nice rounded tasting menu. So, let’s get to it…

Dark Souls II: Crown of the Old Iron King (PC, Xbox 360 & PS3, Aug. 26th)

The next big Dark Souls II DLC pack arrives this week in Crown of the Old Iron King. This is the second of three chunks of DLC Dark Souls II will be getting — the first, Crown of the Sunken King (which I neglected to mention when it came out, my bad) hit back in June.

This Week’s Other DLC

InFamous: First Light (PS4, Aug. 26th)

A prequel to InFamous: Second Son starring female protagonist Fetch, InFamous: First Light is stand-alone DLC, so if you’re not quite sure if you’re interested in Second Son, this could serve as a nice little 15-dollar appetizer. That said, Sony is promising bonus content if you own both Second Son and First Light.

This Week’s Mega Ma–er, Totally Original Platformer

Azure Striker Gunvolt (3DS, Aug. 29th)

As you’re probably aware, Keiji Inafune is working on Mighty No. 9, a copyright-skirting spiritual successor to the classic Mega Man games he co-created. Less well known is the fact that he’s also been working on successor to the Mega Man X games called Azure Striker Gunvolt, which, arguably, looks even better than Mighty No. 9. If you’ve been missing classic 2D Mega Man, you’ll definitely want to sink your teeth into this baby.
