Christopher Mintz-Plasse on screaming ‘like a girl’ for ‘ParaNorman’

“Tell Drew I say…give him a little” – makes smooching noises – “a little kiss on the cheek for me please,” said “ParaNorman” voice star and obvious Drew McWeeny fan Christopher Mintz-Plasse, predictably charming as Gregory Ellwood sat down to chat with him about the new stop-motion film.

From the studio behind the similarly macabre animated movie “Coraline,” “ParaNorman” centers on a young “ghoul-whisperer” (Kodi Smit-McPhee as the title character) who must utilize his power to speak with the dead in order to prevent his small town from being destroyed by evil forces.  For his part, Mintz-Plasse plays Alvin, a school bully who makes life miserable for Norman – and who the actor clearly wasn’t keen on making any apologies for.

“He’s a huge bully. He’s such an idiot. He’s such a moron,” said Mintz-Plasse, who interestingly made his mark as the exact opposite kind of character in “Superbad.” “I don’t think there’s that much of an arc for Alvin. I think he’s there strictly to scream like a girl, and make the crowd laugh….[he] acts like such a tough guy, and then when the zombies come he’s such a pussy.”
