Denzel Washington is flying lead in Robert Zemeckis” “Flight,” the director”s first live-action flick since 2000″s “Cast Away.”
The John Gatins-penned story follows the plight of pilot Whip, “who pulls off a heroic feat of flying in a damaged plane, saving 98 lives on a flight carrying 106 people.” Washington”s character then undergoes the life in the public eye, and his trouble from the night before the flight catching up to him.
The film begins shooting in Atlanta next month. Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are producing alongside Zemeckis” ImageMovers.
Zemeckis, as director, last helmed animated flicks “A Christmas Carol,” (2009) “Beowulf” (2007) and “The Polar Express” (2004). This marks his first time working with veteran Washington, who last appeared in “Unstoppable” and “The Book of Eli” last year. He”s soon to appear in CIA action-thriller “Safe House” alongside Ryan Reynolds.
