Excuse me ‘Game of Thrones,’ why is Bran Stark riding a horse in Season 6?

After an entire season away – talk about a cliffhanger! – Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) returns to “Game of Thrones” next season. If the show plans to explain how a young boy turned into a man seemingly overnight remains to be seen. But Bran has definitely grown up in this first image of him from Season 6.

They grow up so fast! But what exactly does Bran think he”s doing on a horse in this photo from Entertainment Weekly? What does this mean!?

WARNING: MINOR SPOILERS FOR “GAME OF THRONES” SEASON 6 BELOW.

For “A Song of Ice and Fire” purists, this image could be construed as a spoiler. Last book readers saw of Bran Stark, he was plugging himself into the weirwood tree and learning how to be a greenseer. Many fans had assumed Bran would be used on “Game of Thrones” to fill in some gaps to the history of Westeros using the time-traveling capabilities of the weirwoods.

But if Bran is on the move – with a new haircut no less – this might not be the case. Where exactly is the eldest son of Eddard Stark going? To find Rickon? To help Jon and Sansa? Or further into the North, the realm of the Night”s King?

“Game of Thrones” returns to HBO in the spring of 2016.
