George Clooney invites you to a ‘miraculous place’ in first ‘Tomorrowland’ trailer

I haven't been following Brad Bird's “Tomorrowland” too closely and I imagine that's how they want it. The air of mystery has been maintained throughout, but audiences at New York Comic-Con got a peek Thursday afternoon, and now so can you.

Here's the official plot synopsis:

Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (George Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world – and them – forever.

“Lost” co-creator Damon Lindelof, who hasn't exactly shined in features (“Prometheus,” “Cowboys & Aliens”) wrote the screenplay with Bird. The film also stars Hugh Laurie, David Nix, Raffey Cassidy, Tim McGraw, Judy Greer, Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key and Thomas Robinson. This first taste gives you a window into the world and certainly promises more wonder to come.

So, I'm in. What say you? Check out the trailer embedded at the top of this post and tell us what you think. Want more? Check out our report from the “Tomorrowland” panel at NYCC where none other than Mr. Clooney himself crashed the proceedings.

“Tomorrowland” opens in theaters May 22, 2015.
