Today AMPAS, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, announced a plan to double its number of women and “diverse” Oscar voters by 2020.
That's a relief. Why? The Academy Awards have an astounding (yet well-known) history of white voters celebrating white actors and filmmakers, and it's encouraging to see direct effort applied to properly respecting the work of minority players in Hollywood.
