Lana Del Rey earns her first No. 1 album as sophomore set “Ultraviolence” takes the top of The Billboard 200 with 182,000 copies. Her debut album “Born to Die” made it to No. 2 in January 2012, with 77,000 sold, according to Nielsen Soundscan.
British singer-songwriter Sam Smith bows at No. 2 with “In the Lonely Hour,” moving 166,000. Sales were driven in part by the popularity of his single “Stay With Me.”
Linkin Park's new “The Hunting Party” moved enough for No. 3, with 110,000. The vets last rocked the chart in 2012 with “Living Things,” which made it to No. 1 with 223,000.
The “Frozen” soundtrack falls No. 3 to No. 4 with 42,000 (-15%).
Willie Nelson's “Band of Brothers” starts at No. 5 with 37,000, making it his highest charting album since “Always on My Mind” made it to No. 2 in 1982.
Miranda Lambert's “Platinum” descends No. 2 to No. 6 (34,000, -45%) and Jack White's No. 1 “Lazaretto” album is now No. 7 (34,000, -75%).
Jennifer Lopez' “A.K.A.” has a soft debut at No. 8 with 33,000. Her last “Love?” peaked at No. 5 with 83,000 in 2011.
Deadmau5's “while(1<2)” starts on the chart at No. 9 with 30,000, but this first week it was sold exclusively via digital retail. The CD hit shelves this week.
Brantley Gilbert's “Just As I Am” falls No. 4 to No. 10 (26,000, -34%).
Album sales are down 1% compared to last week and down 17% compared to the same week last year. Sales are down 15% compared to last year overall.
