Watch: Madonna and Psy combine on stage for ‘Gangnam Style’

Psy’s “Gangnam Style,” with all its idiosyncrasies, will go down in the annals as epically robbed at No. 2 on the Hot 100, never to see No. 1, occupying the eternal runners-up prison where Boyz II Men’s “Water Runs Dry” and Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” sit, shivering.

That is, unless Madonna’s endorsement helps that last strong push. (Or not.)

I say “last,” because now Madge has grabbed onto Psy’s lapels about three months after professional baseball players, bus drivers, Navy Seals, life guards, the “Today” show and Britney Spears already have. Psy got picked up by Justin Bieber’s manager, “Gangnam” got wide license in the U.S., he went on the awards and morning show circuit and was promoted at all retailers. There may be a surprise performance or something at the AMAs on Sunday, but for the most part “Gangnam Style” is now done. It continues to be a best-seller in digital in the digital realm, but just dipped below the 200,000 sales mark for the first time in two months.

It may not help, either, after you see these videos of Psy dropping in on Madonna’s concert in New York last night (Nov. 13). I am not anti-Madonna by any stretch. I am pro-Madonna. This is not among her finest moments.
