Listen: Paramore’s propulsive new single ‘Now’

Paramore”s Hayley Williams channels Gwen Stefani and Amy Lee on the propulsive single, “Now,” the group”s first single from its forthcoming self-titled album, out April 9.

[More after the jump…]

Backed by a sinewy guitar line and thumping drums, the song opens with Williams talk/singing “Don”t try to take this from me…” The song tosses and tumbles along as Williams” voice builds to match the growing intensity of the guitars and drums until she explodes into the chorus: “If there”s a future, we want it….There”s a time and place to die, but this ain”t it…”

It”s more Linkin Park than Paramore and it’s a little all over the place, but it”s also an exciting peek into what the band, now stripped down to a trio since the departure of the co-founding Farro brothers, has morphed into since we last heard from them on 2009″s “Brand New Eyes.”

The band also released the cover art for “Paramore” and the track listing (below the embedded song)
