Strange But True: David Lynch’s ‘Twin Peaks’ odyssey continued in 1993 on Japanese TV

I stopped posting rumors about Showtime's “Twin Peaks” revival back in September after creators Mark Frost and David Lynch pleaded with the internet to #KeeptheMysteryAlive, but here's a fun tidbit for fans in the meantime: a series of four Japanese coffee commercials directed by Lynch, released two years after the end of the series and one year after the release of the polarizing prequel film “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me” (which was, apparently, a big hit in Japan).

The advertisements, recently unearthed by Open Culture, depict Kyle MacLachlan's coffee-loving FBI agent Dale Cooper tracking down a missing Japanese woman in the quirky Washington town; cameo appearances include cast members Madchen Amick (Shelly Johnson), Kimmy Robertson (Lucy Moran), Harry Goaz (Andy Brennan), Michael Horse (Deputy Hawk) and the late Catherine E. Coulson (Log Lady). As a result, I am now craving a can of creamy, refreshing Georgia Coffee and (now more than ever) new episodes of “Twin Peaks.” Delight in all four quirky chapters of the beverage-inspired mystery below.
