‘True Detective’ casts 4 more including Kelly Reilly and ‘Rectify’s’ Abigail Spencer

The “True Detective” Season 2 cast is growing.

With its four lead stars (almost) in place – Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn and Taylor Kitsch have been confirmed while Rachel McAdams is said to be near a deal – the HBO crime series is close to adding another quartet of actors including Kelly Reilly (“Flight,” ABC's “Black Box”), Abigail Spencer (Sundance Channel's “Rectify”), Michael Irby (“Almost Human”) and Leven Rambin (“The Hunger Games”).

Reilly will appear in the series regular role of a “self-possessed” character named Morgan, while the other three will enjoy recurring roles as Elvis, the partner of McAdams' detective character (Irby); the survivor of a sexual assault (Spencer); and “a beauty with a checkered past” (Rambin), according to Deadline.

Both Spencer and Reilly are rumored to have met for the part that ultimately went to McAdams.

As previously reported, Vaughn is set to play Frank Semyon, a criminal attempting to get on the straight and narrow, while Farrell will play a police detective named Ray Velcoro. Kitsch is also believed to be playing a detective.

“True Detective” Season 2 begins shooting later this year. Justin Lin (“Fast and Furious”) is slated to direct the first two episodes, while William Friedkin is reportedly in talks to helm at least one.
