Watch: Journey to Oa with Ryan Reynolds in four minutes of new ‘Green Lantern’ footage

You’ve heard the buzz on twitter and facebook, now you can check it out for yourself.  Warner Bros. debuted four minutes of startling footage from “Green Lantern” this morning on Apple.com.

The new scenes from Martin Campbell’s potential blockbuster originally appeared at CinemaCon in Las Vegas for theatrical distributors on Thursday and, more importantly, at San Francisco’s WonderCon on Friday for the fans.  Viewers are treated to Abin Sur’s tragic fall to Earth where he meets Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) and bestows upon him the Green Lantern ring (or, as he notes, “The ring chose you.”)  There is also an entertaining scene were Jordan tries to take the Green Lantern oath without having any idea what that would be.  Once he does however, he’s quickly transported through space to Oa, home of the Guardians and the headquarters for the Green Lantern Corps where he meets Tomar-Re (voiced by Geoffrey Rush) who is there to instruct him on the power he now wields.  Fans also get to witness a rally from the Green Lantern Corps lead by Sinestro (Mark Strong) and a montage of a great evil (cough, Parallax, cough) that has infested Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard) and threatens Earth.  All and all, the visually arresting work should make many comic book fans worried after the first “Green Lantern” trailer last fall breathe much, much easier.

What do you think of the new footage?  Are you sold that “Green Lantern” can bring another DC Comics hero to the big screen?
