Few shows got less respect last season than NBC’s “Whitney,” a broad laugh-track half-hour on a network known for more upscale comedies like “30 Rock” and “Parks and Recreation.” But “Whitney” averaged more viewers than many of its more acclaimed schedule-mates, and NBC decided to bring it back for season two.
“Whitney” co-star Zoe Lister-Jones is currently promoting the indie comedy “Lola Versus” (which she co-wrote and stars in opposite Greta Gerwig), so I took the opportunity to ask for her thoughts on “Whitney’s” critics and how working on a network comedy compares to making an indie film.
