Zombiepalooza: Kentucky town to host ‘The Walking Dead’ day

The Walking Dead fans, if you have time this coming weekend, we”ve found your Woodstock. You just need to make your way to rural Kentucky.

The city of Cynthiana (about 30 miles northeast of Lexington) will play host to The Walking Dead day on August 6. Why Cynthiana? Let”s let the comic”s original artist Tony Moore explain.

“My dear ol' hometown of Cynthiana, KY is celebrating THE WALKING DEAD DAY, to honor the the [sic] series and its creators, Robert Kirkman and myself. Fans of the comics will know that not only do Robert and I hail from there, but it's also the site of the opening scenes of THE WALKING DEAD, and the home of Rick Grimes himself!” Moore wrote on his Facebook page.

As part of the festival, there will be TWD trivia, autograph signings by Kirkman and Moore, a zombie jail and a costume contest among other festivities. They”re also giving away 10,000 reprints of the first issue of The Walking Dead comic.

This isn”t the first time that Cynthiana has celebrated their famous former residents. In July, a Portuguese artist was commissioned to paint a mural of four of the show”s stars on the side of a building in the city”s downtown.

If you can”t make it to the street party, The Walking Dead kicks off Season 7 on October 23 at 9 PM ET/PT.
