Donald Trump Supports How A Black Lives Matter Protester Was ‘Roughed Up’ At His Rally

Donald Trump made headlines all weekend, especially after his rally in Alabama. Trump followed up in more than one way, so there’s plenty to rehash here. Of course, Trump said many controversial things during his 51-minute Birmingham speech. He confronted a Black Lives Matter protester and asked for the crowd’s assistance to “get him out of here.” That’s exactly what happened. Trump’s fans did not simply remove the protester, Mercutio Southall, from the premises. They knocked him to the ground with a fury of kicks and punches.

According to CNN, Southall reported that the rally attendees “also called him and two fellow protesters ‘monkeys’ and the n-word.” On Sunday, Trump phoned into Fox News and renewed his unyielding love for the word disgusting: “Maybe he should have been roughed up because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing.” Yep, that happened around the around the 9:30 mark in this video.

In addition to Trump’s verbalized approval of how the attendees dealt with the protester, Trump took time elsewhere to rehash Saturday’s emphasized need for a Muslim database. Trump told his Birmingham audience, “I want surveillance of certain mosques, okay?” He also claimed to have witnessed “thousands and thousands of people [who] were cheering” as the World Trade Center twin towers fell. On Sunday morning, Trump spoke with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos in another double-down:

“There were people that were cheering on the other side of New Jersey where you have large Arab populations. They were cheering as the World Trade Center came down. I know it might be not politically correct for you to talk about it, but there were people cheering as that building came down — as those buildings came down, and that tells you something. It was well covered at the time.”

No wonder Trump believes Syrian refugees are “a Trojan horse.”
