Chris Christie Insists He Feels ‘Really Comfortable And Confident With My Role’ At The RNC

New Jersey Governor and scorned Trump confidante Chris Christie arrived at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland Monday night where he took his place in the New Jersey delegation. Though social media was quick to note Christie’s dejected disposition — and link his mood to Trump’s selection of Mike Pence as his running mate — he assured CNN reporter Dana Bash that he was feeling just fine. “Well sure it’s different, but you know the fact is I feel really comfortable and confident in my role, and always did, even before the vice presidential consideration,” Christie said.

It hasn’t been a great week for Christie, who in addition to being passed over for the role of running mate, he had to find out from a third party, via media leaks. But he brushed the slight aside, instead highlighting his new job: Transition Team Chairman. “I know it’s Monday, so it’s important for you guys to ask me all these questions, but by tomorrow the focus is going to be exclusively on my role as chairman of the transition, Mike’s role as the vice presidential nominee, and Donald’s role as our presidential nominee in the race against Hillary Clinton — and whoever she picks — in the fall,” Christie said.

After pivoting to his new role, Christie stayed there. “My job is to help him get elected, but more importantly at this point, for me, is making sure this administration is ready for him to make decisions about it beginning on November ninth,” he said. At least this job sounds better than better than McDonald’s fetcher.
