Delta Faces Boycott Calls Following An In-Flight Incident With A Trump Supporter

Over the summer, Delta removed a Muslim couple aboard one of its flights after a flight crew member complained to the pilot that she felt “uncomfortable” with the couple being on the plane. The couple was attempting to return to their Cincinnati home after spending their 10th anniversary in Paris when a ground agent asked them to get off the plane. The pilot had alerted ground control that he would not be taking off until the Muslim couple was removed.

The incident is why many are wondering why weren’t the same measures taken when a man went on a pro-Trump tirade aboard a Delta flight heading to Pennsylvania recently. The unidentified man was captured on video by passenger Emma Baum who claims Delta staff did absolutely nothing while the man yelled derogatory comments at the women and continued on with his rant supporting Donald Trump.

Now critics are asking for a boycott of Delta.

“Trump supporting, bigot harasses female passengers—stays on plane. Muslim passengers sit in their seats—removed from plane,” tweeted a critic who’s calling for a boycott of Delta. Another potential boycotter said she personally called the airline to voice her criticism and reported that Delta was not aware about what she was talking about. “I just called delta and they don’t seem to be aware CALL CALL CALL CALL CALL!!! Let them know!!!!! We must stand up this!!!”

Delta said they were “investigating the matter,” but the canned response isn’t enough for film producer Michael Skolnik. Skolnik wants the airline to publicly identify the Trump supporter and ban him from ever flying Delta again. “Your automated response is not good enough. You must address this publicly to make all passengers feel safe on your airline,” the civil rights activist said. The sentiments were echoed by actress Gabrielle Union. The Birth of a Nation star is still waiting for Delta to take proper action before supporting the airline again, writing on Twitter, “Please let me know if I need to change my flight and take my business elsewhere.”
