An Alleged Terrorist Bomb Plot On The ‘Game Of Thrones’ Set Was Thwarted By Police In Northern Ireland

For once, the behind-the-scenes goings-on at the Game of Thrones set is actually more interesting (and terrifying) than the on-screen product; like, lost-Sons of Anarchystory-idea interesting. According to a new report, police (or the City Watch) actually had to bust up an alleged bomb plot that was targeting a group of ex-cops who provide security on the Northern Ireland set of the HBO series.

Irish Republican terrorists planned to plant explosives in a bin next to a catering unit at the Paint Hall Titanic Studios in Belfast, where former Royal Ulster Constabulary cops providing security on set of the hit HBO show took their meals.

But an informant tipped off officials, and security was beefed up dramatically.

The bomb plot had been discovered months ago but kept quiet.

Thousands work at Paint Hall Titanic Studios, and according to the report, “a handful” of those people may have been the ones to let it be known that the RUC cops were on the set in the first place. On top of the now apparently expired threat of exploding bins, people also have to worry about snitchy co-workers. As of right now, the group responsible for the plot has not been identified and, according to the Belfast Telegraph, those targeted have been advised to beef up their personal security. So, have a great day at work, guy who innocently works as an accountant at the studio! Your job is a lot more hazardous than most people realize.
