There’s not a lot of history to be made at most modern award shows, yet the dynamic duo of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey have done just that. At this year’s Emmy Awards they made history by winning an Emmy, then not being there to collect it.
Sure, that doesn’t sound historic and Bob Newhart was there to accept it on their behalf, but they both won an Emmy, together, in a category that was intended for a sole winner, reports Deadline. Both Amy Poehler and Tina Fey won the Emmy for Best Comedy Series Guest Actress for their gig of co-hosting the Saturday Night Live Christmas episode.
This was Fey’s ninth Emmy win and — surprisingly enough — Poehler’s fist time taking home the prestigious television award. So not only did the comedy duo of Poehler and Fey make history, but Poehler gets to share her first award with one of her best collaborators and friends, which is sort of heart-warming. The duo recently co-starred in the film Sisters, which had the misfortune of opening on the same day as Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.
Still, that movie brought in over $100 million domestically, so it seems like everything Fey and Poehler do together works on some level, even not accepting an Emmy.
