Former ‘SNL’ Cast Member Jenny Slate Is Writing A ‘Looney Tunes’ Movie

This is technically movie news, but it fits every one of WG’s requirements: Jenny Slate, a nice, pretty, talented Jewish girl (check) who used to appear on SNL (check) before accidentally saying the f-word (check) during a sketch, has been booked to write a Looney Tunes movie (check). According to the Hollywood Reporter:

Former Saturday Night Live cast member Jenny Slate has been hired to pen the script for what is intended to be a hybrid live-action/CG film.

David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith of KatzSmith, the latter of whom penned the script to Warners’ Dark Shadows, are on board to produce along with Harry Potter producer David Heyman and his Heyday Films president Jeffrey Clifford. (Via)

The segue here doesn’t matter because you guys know where this is going.

(Check.) This is great news: Slate is actually a fan of Looney Tunes, and Jason Segel’s wonderful The Muppets is a perfect example of a revival needing someone who actually knows the material to make it successful. It won’t be The Smurfs, written by four guys, including the jerk who penned the screenplay for Rugrats in Paris: The Movie. But, hey, Jenny, if you wanna get referential and write R. Kelly into the script, I’m sure no one — i.e. noted Space Jam enthusiast Danger — would complain.

Also, doesn’t Jenny look like Lola?

That makes me feel weird. But not as weird as this:
