Watch An Airport Security Officer Save A Falling Baby With A Spectacular Catch

First of all, if you’re a parent, you should know better than to put your child on a luggage counter in an airport. Children are not toys. They are not stationary. They will move, and if put a child who has not yet learned the concept of gravity on a table or a counter, that child will roll, squirm, or crawl off. Every parent learns this pretty much the first time they leave their small child on their bed and turn their back for THREE GODDAMN SECONDS. Kids move fast, so no, it’s not OK to put your child on a counter even for the two short seconds it takes you to put on your jacket. So, not only does this video feature an amazing catch OF A HUMAN BEING, it also involves a parenting fail.

But that catch? WOW. The security officer, around the :20 mark, comes out of nowhere at the Katowice International Airport (that’s Poland) and makes a diving grab, catching the baby before it hits the ground. Why the father isn’t hugging him afterwards and emptying his wallet and giving him the entire contents therein is a mystery to me, although I suspect that the mother (who the Dad hands the kid off to after the incident) is going to have a few words with the Dad afterwards. What’s the Polish translation for, “WHAT THE F**K WERE YOU THINKING?”

Either way, it’s a happy ending: The airport security officer received a bonus for his heroic effort.
