NBA enchantress Lisa Ann is quite familiar with the world of sports. Along with being a self-proclaimed mentor for NBA players over the last quarter century, Ann has publicly claimed she had relations with a member of the defending champion Warriors, helped Paul George recover from his gruesome leg injury and even attended a baseball game with one lucky fan who pinged her on Twitter. While she’s admitted in the past she used Twitter to hook up with athletes, and while her own intentions on social media may have been pure, she knows professional athletes — especially the youngsters in the NBA — can be easy prey for those with more sinister plans.
In a new article for Complex, Ann gave five important tips for NBA players to avoid getting hustled. The former porn star claims that a “minimum of 25 percent of NBA players have dealt with blackmail at some point in their career” but with her advice, they should be able to avoid putting themselves in precarious situations.
Her tips range from bigger challenges like “no new friends” and not giving in to peer pressure, to practical tips like flushing condoms, using the hotel safe, and not bringing girls back to a player’s house. It’s easy to laugh or cringe at the subject matter, but the truth is this is some really important stuff to hear for a single NBA player who has come into millions of dollars and a high level of fame and scrutiny at a very young age.
Having been around professional sports and the adult film industry before that, perhaps no one is better equipped at avoiding possible blackmail than Lisa Ann. So, it would behoove those in the Association — especially young players in their first or second seasons — to take some time to check out her self-penned piece of advice. For the rest of us, it’s a fascinating read about the lengths certain people will go to trick athletes into giving them what they want.
