‘SNL’ Says What’s On Everyone’s Mind About That Big ‘Game Of Thrones’ Reveal

Because of Jon Snow‘s apparent death at the end of Game of Thrones‘ fifth season, all fans could talk about until season six premiered in April was whether or not he was really dead. From frame-by-frame analyses to Kit Harington taking a lie detector test, everything about it got out of hand. And then it happened — Snow was brought back to life by Melisandre, albeit after she and everyone else who believed in her sorcery had left the room. Game of Thrones fans weren’t surprised, but considering all the time they’d spend brooding, they were probably irritated. Hence Saturday Night Live‘s fantastic “Jon Snow” skit.

After the word “dead” pops up seven times in the opening 30 seconds, host Brie Larson and cast member Cecily Strong’s characters piped in as a chorus of sorts: “Oh my god, this is so slow!” “Just bring him back to life already!” “We all know it’s going to happen. Just do it!”

Between their right-on-the-money commentary, Melisandre’s unbearably slow routine for casting a spell to resuscitate the “dead” Jon Snow, and Pete Davidson’s stellar performance as a corpse with the sudden ability to stall things further, SNL‘s take on these shenanigans is perfect.
