LeBron James took a lot of flak on social media after Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday for the way he reacted to catching an inadvertent elbow to the face from teammate Tristan Thompson. Critics argued that he flopped backward in a blatant attempt to get a call, which was the initial result as the refs hit DeMarre Carroll with a technical foul simply because of his proximity to the play. Upon review, however, they would rightfully reverse that call when it became clear that it was Thompson’s elbow that connected with James.
Getting elbowed in the face is no picnic, regardless of whether it was on purpose or whether it was from a friend or foe. But that wasn’t the end of it. Far from it, in fact. As he’s done so many times before, Brandon Armstrong, aka the NBA Impersonator, gave James the business for this one. @BdotAdot5, in addition to being a master impressionist, likes to take jokes to absurd lengths; you’ll want to stick around to see where this one goes.
Fans of Armstrong know him for his uncanny interpretations of NBA players past and present and his ability to expertly capture all of the hilarious little nuances of their mannerisms that make them so immediately recognizable. Some of his recent standout work includes Dwight Howard reacting to foul calls and Celtics legend Bob Cousey’s old-timey dribbling displays. With the playoffs kicking into high gear, let’s hope we hear more from him soon.
