The rich keep getting richer is a maxim that makes a lot of sense in America. The income disparity is a real issue in the 2016 Presidential race, and the issue seems to have infiltrated the NBA. After Kevin Durant’s stunning decision to join the Warriors in free agency this summer, the Warriors’ summer just kept getting better. They got Zaza Pachulia for next to nothing, and David West soon joined at the veteran’s minimum, bolstering a big man collection that was really just Durant and Draymond Green before those moves. But now, the greatest shooter in NBA history before the Splash Brothers really took full effect is thinking about joining the team, too.

League sources informed ESPN.com that Ray Allen’s reps have reached out to the Warriors about coming aboard. In case you’d forgotten, Ray hasn’t ever officially retired yet.

The Warriors aren’t so sure he’s a fit, though. Sources told ESPN the team by the Bay isn’t sure it wants to pursue him, and he’s not even set on the Warriors just yet. He’s intrigued by the possibility of playing for another championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Clippers.

Allen turns 41 this month, and he hasn’t played competitive basketball for two full seasons. He won a championship with the 2008 Celtics and the 2013 Heat, and made 10 All-Star teams in his career while shooting 40 percent from beyond the arc, but two full seasons after turning 40 is no joke. The Warriors don’t really need shooting because they have the best-shooting backcourt in NBA history and now the best-shooting big man in NBA history. But maybe they’ll just sign him to the minimum so the other title contenders can’t. They might as well embrace their blossoming villainy.
