Dwayne Johnson Would Like You To Know His Upcoming ‘Jumanji’ Movie Won’t Be A Reboot

We have important news for those in the grip of Jumanjimania, which is a non-existent disease we made up just now. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would like to clear a possible misconception fans may have about his upcoming Jumanji project.

Candyassgate has been grabbing the bulk of the world’s Dwayne-based attention this month, so even when The Rock points out something big about an anticipated motion picture offering, it can sometimes get looked past for juicy Rock vs Vin funzos. Tucked into Johnson’s Instagram message thanking the Fast 8 team after wrapping filming is a note of clarification about this new Jumanji offering.

“And now in two weeks I’ll reunite with ol’ friends Kevin Hart & Jack Black and we have the honor to introduce a whole new generation to the amazing world of #JUMANJI,” shared Johnson on his current schedule. “For the record we are NOT making a reboot, but rather a continuation of the awesome JUMANJI story.”

There you go, no reboot. That means no one has to get mad about the sanctity of the blockbuster and we can all start speculating what that “continuation” means. The last time there was something marketed as a continuation of Jumanji, we got the 2005 Jon Favreau directed curiosity Zanthura. What do you imagine is in store for The Rock’s Jumanji tale when it arrives in theaters? Now’s a good time to play prognosticator in the comments.
