Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi has been making the interview rounds for his other film, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, and is teasing cameos for Ragnarok in the process.
Regarding the set photo of Chris Hemsworth holding a card with Doctor Strange’s address written on it, Waititi told Digital Spy he isn’t sure if he can comment on whether or not Benedict Cumberbatch has a cameo as Stephen Strange, adding “it may have just been something for the fans.” When asked if it was for a post-credits scene, he answered, “Might be something like that. Might be a little tease. Or maybe a tease just for people who wanted to zoom into that photo.”
We’re betting one Marvel movie or another will have a post-credits scene with Thor and Doctor Strange. Throw Hulk in there, and you got a Defenders stew going, baby.
Another potential cameo we weren’t expecting was brought up by IGN. In their interview with Waititi, they asked if Ragnarok would include Thor’s roommate Darryl Jacobson, the regular Australian bloke Thor was hanging out with while the Civil War mess was going on. The mockumentary about their roommate situation was a Captain America: Civil War DVD extra and was screened at San Diego Comic-Con. Waititi hinted to IGN, “I think you probably could see him again. There may be other little pieces of that thing that everyone saw that may just be a small part of a bigger thing.”
A third cameo we may see is Waititi himself. The director occasionally appears in his own movies, but he told Digital Spy he usually only has a cameo when someone else drops out. As far as Ragnarok goes, he said, “We’ll see if any of the actors pull out and I’d maybe think about it. Usually I find a way to crowbar myself in!”
Another cameo Waititi totally spoiled? Thor is in Thor: Ragnarok, you guys.
