Welp! It’s safe to say Demi Lovato will not be in Taylor Swift’s “unrealistic” squad any time soon. If ever. Not that Demi even wants to be. The 24-year-old singer just totally incinerated that bridge to the ground after teasing a fire earlier this year.
Last May, Demi tweeted, “don’t brand yourself a feminist if you don’t do the work,” seemingly in reference to Taylor who’s known for her female empowering brand and girl squad full of models. Now Demi is doubling down on the scathing criticism in a new issue of Glamour. Throwing the last remaining f*cks out the window, Demi slams Taylor for being fake.
“I think in certain situations, certain people could be doing more if they’re going to claim that as part of their brand,” the outspoken “Body Say” singer says. “To be honest, and this will probably get me in trouble, I don’t see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body. It’s kind of this false image of what people should look like. And what they should be like, and it’s not real.”
The former Disney star is very much serious about realistic body images. Just recently, she “thanks but no thanks” an artist who drew her as a slender mermaid, telling him on Instagram, “Is that how my boobs should look? It’s gorgeous but that’s not my body.” But back to her Glamour interview.
Demi also isn’t here for Taylor Swift’s Katy Perry slander. The country-turned-pop singer created an entire song with “Bad Blood” to slam Katy, a move not very girl power-y in Demi’s eyes.
“I think that having a song and a video about tearing Katy Perry down, that’s not women’s empowerment,” Demi said. “We all do things that aren’t, but I have to ask myself, ‘Am I content with calling myself a feminist?’ Yes, because I speak out.”
At this point in her career, Taylor’s brand is way too big to fail. Even after being exposed by Kim Kardashian, Taylor is still very much well-liked.
Update: Not understanding why taking a dig at the biggest pop star in the country is worth crafting articles, Demi Lovato has decided to take a break from “this business.”
So excited for 2017. Taking a break from music and the spotlight.. I am not meant for this business and the media 👋🏼

The break comes in the middle of her joint Future Now tour with NIck Jonas. Demi is scheduled to perform in Mexico October 16. Before her tweet, the singer said she didn’t understand why her interviews were important to people when there are so many real world issues going on.
I get asked questions. I answer them. Sue me.

Also don't forget that words can be taken out of context when doing interviews.. still not apologizing for saying what everyone want to say

I don't understand why people care so much about what I say in interviews? Do y'all watch the news? Don't y'all got shit to worry about?
