Alec Baldwin was only expected to make a few appearances on SNL this season, but with Donald Trump winning the presidential election, he may get bumped up to a featured player. Baldwin himself weighed in on the election. He feels that America’s selection of the 45th president was a “knee-jerk” reaction that he compared to purchasing laundry detergent.

Baldwin, who has never been shy about expressing his political views, shared his thoughts on the election through his Alec Baldwin Foundation Twitter page. Baldwin said the country is changing, and the election of Trump may have been a “knee-jerk” reaction to the current climate of the country:

But there may be a silver lining, as Trump going into the White House may signal more Baldwin on Saturday nights. Baldwin was brought on during SNL’s 42nd season to take over the role of The Donald from incumbent Darrell Hammond. His efforts have been pretty satisfying so far, with some standout sketches. But Baldwin may want to ask for a raise, as his residence at 30 Rockefeller Plaza could continue thanks to Trump coming out on top. Many seem to think this is a pretty good idea:

Baldwin would be a welcome addition to the cast, but if he chooses to take a pass for the artistic reasons, Stephen Baldwin is just a phone call away.
