Break out your science costumes! After a noticeably long wait since its season finale in 2014, Neil deGrasse Tyson And Seth MacFarlane’s updated spin on Carl Sagan’s Cosmos is finally confirmed for a second season.
Arriving in Spring 2019, Cosmos: Possible Worlds is slated for broadcast on both Fox and National Geographic when it arrives. Astrophysicist (and guy you might not want to go to the movies with) Neil deGrasse Tyson returns as host for the 13-episode run, which boasts Cosmos writer/producer/co-creator Ann Druyan back on board as well, with Seth MacFarlane, Brannon Braga and Jason Clark also serving as exec producers. Druyan will be publishing a companion book as well.
“In the vastness of space and the immensity of time, the number of worlds to explore and stories to tell are virtually infinite,” proclaims press material trumpeting the program’s return. “The first two seasons of the COSMOS television series transported a global audience to the farthest reaches and most deeply hidden recesses of the universe. In the course of those journeys, the series dramatized the lives of many of the forgotten searchers who contributed to the world’s understanding of who, when and where we are in the universe. COSMOS: POSSIBLE WORLDS will venture to previously uncharted territories.”

We’re still a significant distance from that Cosmos premiere, but it’s not like all of the universe’s mysteries are going to be sorted out by 2019, so at least we don’t have spoilers to worry about.
