Conor McGregor’s Bus Attack Has Forced Both Michael Chiesa And Ray Borg Off The UFC 223 Card

The potential lawsuits from Conor McGregor’s actions at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn continue to pile up as another UFC 223 fighter has been taken to the hospital. McGregor and an entourage of about 10 people threw chairs, barricades, and carts at a bus taking fighters on the April 7th card back to their hotel, smashing out several windows. Lightweight Michael Chiesa suffered multiple facial lacerations and now we’ve learned flyweight Ray Borg may have shrapnel in his eye from the incident.

Chiesa’s fight with Anthony Pettis on Saturday has officially been cancelled due to the cuts on his face, joining Artem Lobov-Alex Cacares, which was cancelled earlier in the day. Borg’s fight with Brandon Moreno has likewise been nixed, but at this point we’re just hoping his eye is okay. UFC VP of Athlete Development Reed Harris (best known for running the WEC back in the day) also ended up in the hospital with cuts, along with an unnamed fellow employee whose hand may be broken.

As if suddenly getting showered in glass while minding your own damn business wasn’t bad enough, the Twitter idiot brigade was out in full force accusing everyone on the bus of playing up the incident and faking injuries so they can sue Conor McGregor. As if McGregor and his gang throwing heavy metal objects through the bus windows couldn’t seriously hurt people. As if the people on that bus were all opportunistic scam artists and not just fighters concentrating on their own careers.

Honestly, we’re shocked that more people weren’t hurt during this chaos, and McGregor is lucky the situation didn’t escalate into a brawl with someone smashing their head on the concrete loading docks. It really is a black eye for the sport of MMA. After a decade of trying to get into New York, it’s especially embarrassing for this behavior to go down in Brooklyn.
