An entire Saturday Night Live sketch based around Louis C.K. doing an impression of Leslie Jones might sound like a bad idea on paper, but it works here. Sure, Jones fumbles some of the lines and throws the sketch off a bit. They still manage to bring it back around by the end and ramp up the ridiculousness to the point where you can buy an employee playing up a bad impression as his real voice for years.
When Louis is five years into his ruse and he’s complimenting Jones’ fingernails, I was sold on this sketch. I wouldn’t want to see it happen again, but it works for this episode and the end of the season.
