After all sorts of rumors and speculation potentially involving a transaction with the Bulls or Sixers, the Boston Celtics made the first surprise pick of Draft night by selecting California product Jaylen Brown. Up to that point, they were expected to take the other top guard in the Draft, Kris Dunn. It was also quickly reported that the organization would not, in fact, try to dangle him to trade suitors in an effort to acquire an established veteran to flesh out their young roster.
